"The Sower" is an allegorical story where the narrator discusses "wolves" (exploiters) and "sheep" (laborers) with a farmer. The sower explains how "sheep become wolves" by telling the parable of Harut, a poor man who makes a pact with the devil: in exchange for wealth, Harut stomps on his grain, spits in his seed bag, and defiles the earth . Though physically cursed by these acts (becoming lame, blind, and diseased), he gains an insatiable demonic drive to acquire riches by "demolishing" his neighbors, thus completing his transformation .
