The Valley of the Moon

“The Valley of the Moon” is a novel by American writer Jack London. It is a story of a working-class couple, Billy and Saxon Roberts, struggling laborers in Oakland at the Turn-of-the-Century, who leave their city life in Oakland behind to find a better life in the country.  The book is notable for its scenes in which the proletarian heroes enjoy fellowship with the artists' colony in Carmel, and their settling in the Valley of the Moon.
