-All good things come to him who waits, you know.
-Yes, unless you just turn out to be a waiter.
“An American Tragedy” is a crime story based on real events, a psychological drama and at the same time a harsh rebuff to the “American dream”, which has become Theodore Dreiser's most famous novel and the plot basis for several feature films.
America. Beginning of the twentieth century. Capitalism. Social inequality. Tragedy... Clyde Griffiths, having miraculously escaped persecution in Kansas City, finds himself in Lycurgus, where, taking advantage of his uncle's official position, he not only gets a managerial position in the factory, but also enters a high society and finds his love. It seemed that what else is needed for happiness?
The story of a young man from a lower class who longed for a luxurious life and wealth so much that he was ready to pay a very high price to achieve it all, never ceasing to constantly develop the reader's imagination, soul and mind for a century.
