The Lily of the Valley
The heroine of the novel “The Lily of the Valley” by Honore de Balzac, Countess Henriette de Mortsauf — fragile and delicate as a lily in the picturesque Loire Valley, meets a young aristocrat Felix de Vandenesse. The whole life of the mistress of the castle is focused on caring for an elderly, domineering, hot-tempered husband, whose health has been undermined in numerous military campaigns, and two young children. A wonderful castle, blooming nature serve as a background for the emerging feeling. But platonic love, heavenly love gives way to life changes, Felix is waiting for Paris and another life. But is he destined to meet Henriette again in the Loire Valley?
