Mktrich Armen’s story-essay is presented as an anonymous letter addressed to the painter Ashot Aramyan, inspired by his famous painting “Our Girl.” The author of the letter praises not the artist himself, but the model’s image — the “New Being” — as the ideal of the socialist person. However, feeling the overwhelming influence of art, he decides to part with the postcard of the painting, unwilling to let his admiration for beauty replace real life.
