Mkrtich Armen's "Azatuk" reveals the psychological tragedy of a rare visit between the political prisoner Yefim Loshchanin and his "free" (but naive) wife, Yelena. The prisoner's existence revolves entirely around starvation and elaborate fantasies about gourmet food, a desperate reality his wife is utterly unable to grasp.
