The collector left the following information about the circumstances of the writing of the tale: “Narrated on July 28, 1916, in the village of Haghbat, eighty-year-old Aleksan Melkonyan, an illiterate old man who had never emigrated. He was a zurnachi, he learned this tale from the craftsman Khecho, a native of Haghbat."
