In an old city at the foot of the mountains, from the nineteenth century into the early decades of the twentieth, a family of hereditary potters lives by working with clay. Hovnatan, son of Jeremiah, discovers that clay can become more than useful objects: it can preserve the human form. His artistic calling conflicts with family duties, social expectations, and poverty, raising questions about tradition, creativity, and the place of an artist in society.
