In a rural community at the beginning of the last century, old Brother Giko tries to adjust to blindness and the loss of his former standing within his household. He visits the smithy, where people still listen to his words and advice, while everyday family life is fraught with quarrels and unspoken grievances. When an important household transaction is carried out without his knowledge, Giko’s pride and helplessness clash with the shifting relationships of a new era. The narrative explores old age, dignity, and the pain of being alone among one’s own kin.
